Our Early Childhood Education Program – Durham, NC
Here at Kiddie Kollege we believe in a well-rounded approach in developing preschool aged children. The curriculum includes teacher-directed and child-initiated activities and experiences to support cognitive, emotional, social, and physical development.
Our program has a strong emphasis on healthy eating and learning where food comes from. We have a garden the children take care of and eat the foods they harvest from the garden. The children actively participate in a monthly nutrition class through DINE, a Durham County Public Health program.
Literacy is another major component of our program. Our literacy curriculum is HELP (Hill Early Literacy Program) created by the Hill Center in Durham. During the pre-reading years, ages 3-5, research shows that children must demonstrate specific abilities to become successful readers. Early literacy skills provide the foundation for learning to read and write.
